” Marios Iliopoulos the mastermind behind Nightrage, is an incredibly talented yet underrated force in the metal genre. He’s crafted top-tier albums that have left their mark across the wider spectrum of melodic death metal. Releases like Dance Across the Past and Traumaticon from his earlier band, Exhumation as well as several Nightrage albums, stand as elite contributions to the genre.
During the tour leading up to the album, Nightrage faced their recurring issue once again: a member left the band. However, they brought in a new singer who stands as their best since Tomas Lindberg. His contribution to the songs is undeniable. This new Greek vocalist
Konstantinos Togas brings a powerful growling voice and an impressive clean tone for the melodic sections. His intense screams inject an incredible amount of energy into the music, making his presence impossible to overlook.
Another element that sets this album apart from previous ones is its production. The band recorded and produced the album at
Devasoundz Studios, led by the talented
FotisBenardo
Known primarily as a phenomenal drummer—having played with Nightrage before, as well as
SEPTICFLESH—Fotis is also a skilled guitarist and singer. In recent years, he has become a highly respected producer, known for crafting albums that sound incredible. He’s like a modern-day Midas; everything he touches turns to gold. His involvement had a huge impact on shaping the songs, and his contribution was crucial, not just in structuring the tracks but also in delivering the mind-blowing sound and production quality. Remains of a Dead World is the best-sounding Nightrage album since Sweet Vengeance. In a twist of fate, Nightrage faced yet another lineup change when their drummer left the band. Fortunately, Fotis returned, this time as a permanent, official member of Nightrage. Awesome news. Welcome back, brother!
In closing, I want to emphasize once more that this album is the result of endless talent, hard work, and a clear vision. It’s proof that, even after being in the business for so many years and with such a vast back catalog, it’s still possible to create amazing art with passion and soul. I truly hope that the next Nightrage album will be just as good as this one. I hope they’ll put in the same amount of effort, and that the muse of inspiration will be even more generous. This band deserves to be playing two categories higher than they currently are, and if you haven’t heard their albums, definitely check this one out. It’s definitely among the top 10 of 2024″

“Is this Nightrage’s magnum opus? Do bears poop in the forest? If Nightrage wanted to show off with this album they sure as the Final Judgment did, because I am floored. If you liked
Arch Enemy Burning Bridges,
Soilwork The Chainheart Machine, or
Omnium Gatherum New World Shadows run, do not walk, to your local CD store and buy a copy for every member of your family, including your grandparents, and call me in the morning. From now on, when someone asks me “How do you define a perfect melodic death metal album” I will giddily point them to “Remains Of A Dead World”. A spectacular achievement, a future classic and late album of 2024, as far as I’m concerned.
